VEXSL Canada has entered into an exclusive drone services agreement with EmberX Fire Defense Inc. to support proactive wildfire mitigation services for homes, businesses, municipalities and other high-risk properties.
The partnership brings together EmberX's wildfire mitigation experience and ground-based application services with VEXSL's commercial drone operations, trained pilots, equipment, logistics and technical capabilities.
By combining aerial and ground-based application methods, the companies can treat a wider range of vegetation and exterior surfaces, including tall trees, hedges, landscaped areas, hillsides, municipal spaces and other locations that may be difficult or inefficient to access using conventional spraying equipment.
Moving Wildfire Protection Toward Prevention
The VEXSL and EmberX service model is built around a straightforward principle: wildfire protection should begin before the fire arrives.
Traditional wildfire response must focus heavily on detection and suppression after ignition. This new service is designed to support the preventative side of wildfire preparedness by treating vulnerable vegetation and suitable combustible exterior surfaces before wildfire conditions threaten a property.
The service currently uses CitroTech, a water-based fire-inhibitor technology supplied by Global Fire Rescue Services. Its active fire-inhibiting chemistry is principally based on tripotassium citrate.
When properly applied and allowed to dry, the product forms a thin, transparent coating intended to inhibit ignition and flame spread. Unlike coloured wildfire retardants commonly associated with aerial firefighting, the treatment dries clear and can be applied to suitable vegetation, landscaping, wood and other exterior surfaces.
Combining Drone and Ground Applications
EmberX crews use mechanical spray systems, hoses and backpack sprayers to treat smaller or easily accessible areas around structures and landscaping.
For larger properties, tall trees, steep terrain, dense vegetation and difficult-access locations, VEXSL provides commercial drone spraying services on behalf of EmberX.
This combined approach allows ground crews to focus on detailed areas around buildings while drones treat tree canopies, hillsides, large perimeter zones and other locations that would otherwise require significant manpower or specialized access equipment.

Building a Scalable Drone Services Network
VEXSL Canada is a veteran-owned and operated company focused on providing communications, situational awareness and end-to-end drone services for emergency management, public safety, industry and commercial customers.
VEXSL is developing a network of Forward Operating Bases supported by commercial and heavy-lift drones capable of performing missions across wildfire mitigation, emergency response, industrial cleaning, infrastructure maintenance, agriculture, forestry, mapping, inspection and cargo transport.
Rather than requiring each organization to purchase aircraft, train pilots, secure specialized insurance and build its own operating procedures, VEXSL provides these capabilities as a managed service.
The EmberX agreement demonstrates how this model can help an established service company expand its reach without having to independently build a large aviation operation.
Supporting Documented Wildfire Risk Reduction
A longer-term objective of the partnership is to create a measurable and documented wildfire mitigation service that can be evaluated alongside other property risk-reduction measures.
Application records may include the property treated, treatment date, areas covered, application method and recommended inspection or reapplication period.
VEXSL and EmberX ultimately intend to work with insurers, brokers, municipalities, wildfire specialists and other stakeholders to explore whether verified mitigation programs may contribute to future property-risk assessments.
The companies are not suggesting that treatment guarantees protection from wildfire, insurance coverage or lower premiums. The objective is to develop real-world operating data and documented mitigation standards that insurers and other stakeholders can independently assess.
An Additional Layer of Wildfire Preparedness
Fire-inhibitor application is not intended to replace defensible-space practices, vegetation management, building-code requirements, evacuation planning or professional wildfire response.
Instead, it is designed to provide property owners, businesses and communities with an additional preventative tool that can be incorporated into a broader wildfire preparedness strategy.
Through this partnership, VEXSL and EmberX are working to make advanced wildfire mitigation services available across larger areas, difficult terrain and properties that have traditionally been challenging to treat from the ground.
The immediate objective is to help reduce ignition risk before wildfire conditions arrive. The longer-term vision is to establish a repeatable and documented wildfire mitigation standard that can support more resilient properties and communities.
